The discipline of musicology which involves the issues such as sound, aesthetics, musical theories and analyzes, music education, psychology of music, ethnology of music, musical terminology, musical notation and bibliography of music explores the historical development of world music cultures and by comparing these cultures brings the information it has produced into use to produce new information. Accordingly, the discipline of musicology can be defined as not only a discipline dealing with the history of music but also a discipline dealing with the examination of close interactions with other important disciplines like language, religion, medicine, physic, mathematics, philology, archeology, folklore, etc…The program received the approval of establishment in 2010 and started educational and research activities in 2010-2011 academic year under the Department of Musicology.
