  • Accommodation

All incoming exchange students are assigned to suitable accommodation - a flat to share with some other Turkish student(s) considering their preferences. Incoming exchange students can stay at the University Guest House for up to 5 days free of charge prior to moving to their designated place for accommodation. If students do not wish to stay in a flat and prefer to stay at other private dormitories or youth hostels, we cannot guarantee a place for them, but we will do our best to help them find a place. We have to say that it is really hard to find vacancy in these places for only one semester since there is a constant demand for them. Exchange students could also choose to rent their own place. However, considering the high rates of rent and the real estate’s brokerage commission, this might not be the right option for the exchange students.

"KANKA*" System: Each incoming exchange student is paired with a Turkish student who will be his/her mate (Kanka) responsible for helping them with the travel arrangements, informing them about the university, the city and the country. If the incoming students inform their Kanka friends about their exact arrival date and time, arrangements can be made so that they can be met at the train or bus stations in Eskişehir by their kanka friends.

* "Kanka" means "buddy/mate, or best friend/close friend" in Turkish students' slang.
