Elective foreign language courses are offered in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Russian.

b) For Exchange Students

Turkish Language Certificate Program is an online program designed to teach Turkish language skills within the context of lifelong learning and to narrow the gap between different cultures in Europe and worldwide. This program was developed based on the standards set by the Association of Institutions within Europe for Producing Examinations and Certification for Various Languages (ALTE). Conducting online written and oral examinations as well as employing various evaluation tools, such as participation in synchronous and asynchronous interactions, and the use of streaming video extensively differentiates this program from other distance programs in the university. The teams are currently piloting the first level instruction and producing materials for the second level. The program includes all the six ALTE levels (A1, A2, B1, B2; C1, C2). TSP001 Turkish Certificate Program (6 ECTS)-Turkish Online Course was also awarded European Language Label in 2009.

There are also Turkish language lessons for incoming students to help them develop daily communication skills. Additionally, there are three special courses offered in English: Cultural Heritage of Turkey, Cultural Diversity and Communication, and Culture and Tourism in Turkey. Cultural Diversity and Communication course is important in that it introduces students to a new dimension of culture.
