Reaching Eskişehir from Ankara
After arriving in Ankara (Esenboğa Airport), you can reach Eskişehir by high-speed train or bus.

Reaching Eskişehir from İstanbul
After landing Istanbul Atatürk airport, you can reach Eskişehir by bus.
a) Bus
1. You can reach Esenler Bus Station from Atatürk Airport by subway (Metro). From Sabiha Gökçen Airport, you need to take HAVATAŞ airport shuttle service to Ataşehir Bus Terminal.
2. Then, you need to take a bus to Eskişehir. (6 hours)

3) Student Pick-up
As long as the incoming exchange students inform their Kanka friends or the International Affairs Office about their exact arrival date and time in Istanbul or Ankara, Kanka friends will give advice about transportation to Eskişehir and can meet them at the train station or bus station in Eskişehir.
4) Language
The official language of Turkey is Turkish. Following the foundation of the Republic of Turkey, the New Turkish Alphabet, composed of 29 letters, was created through the adaptation of the Latin alphabet in 1928. 5) Religion
Turkey is a secular country where the great majority of the population is Muslim. The freedom of religious belief or disbelief and the application or non-application of religious rules is constitutionally protected. Everyone is free to observe any religion of their preference and follow their method of worship.
6) Currency

8) Post-Cargo-Courier Service
Post, cargo and courier services are provided by the state and the private sectors in Turkey. PTT is one of these institutions. PTT has a branch on Yunus Emre Campus and you can send mail, transfer money, or pay bills (telephone, mobile phone, electricity, water, etc.)
9) Banking Service and Credit Cards
Turkish banks offer developed banking services that are fully integrated with the world. You can cash your traveler’s checks in banks and pay various bill with credit cards. International credit cards such as VISA, MasterCard and American Express are valid in almost all locations where you purchase services or products such as hotels, restaurants, markets, shops or travel agencies.

10) Weather in Eskişehir
Eskişehir is located in Central Anatolia and the climate has the characteristics of a continental climate; however, the region is also influenced by the weather conditions in the Western Black Sea Coast and Mediterranean regions. Annual average temperature is about 10.9 C˚. According to monthly average temperatures, the coldest month of the year is January with an average temperature of -2 C˚. The coldest days and frost are from the second half of December until the first half of February. In the second half of spring, maximum temperatures can reach over 20 C˚. The hottest days are in June, July and August when the lowest temperature is between 10 and 15 C˚. The highest temperatures are between 30 – 40 C˚ from the second half of July until the first half of August. Autumn is felt when the temperature falls below 20 C˚ in the second half of August.
11) Transportation
a) Highway
Eskişehir is centrally located at the junction of many major highways and railroads. It serves as a major hub linking İstanbul with the Central Anatolia, and Ankara with the Southern Marmara Region and Western Anatolia. Eskisehir is connected to all neighboring cities by major highways. The highway route network of Eskişehir is 4782 km. Eskişehir Otogar (Main inter-city Bus Station), located on 160 acres, is one of the most modern bus stations of Turkey with a strikingly modern design, shopping centers, other facilities, and ticket offices. Eskişehir Bus Station serves approximately 500 buses and 6000 passengers daily. Public buses and the tram operate between the station and the city center and the campuses.
b) Railroad
Eskişehir has been an important railroad junction in Turkey since the foundation of the Turkish Republic. Approximately 15 passenger lines go through Eskişehir. The total railway network of Eskisehir is 268 kilometers. The distance between Eskişehir and Ankara is 264 km, Eskişehir-İstanbul is 375 km, and Eskişehir-Afyon is 162 km. Eskişehir is also connected to Ankara, Konya, Bilecik, and İstanbul via high-speed train lines.
c) Public Transportation
Public transportation is available within the city. Public and private buses, minibuses, tram and taxis are the main means of transportation used, allowing the residents of the city to reach any point in the city easily.
