Anadolu University State Conservatory, Department of Instrument Making and Repair, started to give education in 2000. The department, which gave its first graduates in the 2004-2005 academic year, provides four-year undergraduate education. Initially opened with the " Department of String Instrument Making and Repair" programme, the department has been renewed as "Instrument Making and Repair" as of the 2022-2023 academic year with a significant branch approach covering a broader perspective of instrument design and making practices. The curriculum for 2023-2024 has been rearranged by today's technological standards to provide a contemporary education in a unique model. Instead of a standardised understanding of instrument making based solely on wood technology, a modern syllabus suitable for 21st-century production practices, where conceptual and scientific instrument design and construction studies in an interdisciplinary perspective can be carried out, is among the main goals of the department. In addition to wood technologies, a modern department with a rich infrastructure where different materials, electronic and digital productions can be made is focused. The studies in the department are continuously developed with current technological developments and research in an innovative perspective with world-class technical materials and equipment facilities. Our department, which continues its studies with both a traditional and innovative education approach, continues its workshops with a strategy focused on conventional instruments, old music period instruments, Turkish music instruments, experimental instruments and artistic instrument designs. Our department, which adopts an interdisciplinary mission with its educational approach in this perspective, continues to add current practices and innovations to its education programme, aiming at the vision of raising versatile and highly aware luthier candidates who can keep up with age and realising parallel productions.

Admission to the programme is based on the relevant higher education legislation, the central placement procedures, and/or the requirements of a Special Talent Examination, where applicable. When a Special Talent Examination is required, the application requirements, examination procedures, assessment criteria, and registration procedures are announced by the relevant academic unit. Candidates who are granted admission must complete their registration within the deadlines announced by the University. Admission through horizontal transfer is conducted in accordance with the relevant legislation and the principles established by the relevant academic unit. The application and admission procedures for international students are carried out in accordance with the applicable legislation.\nGeneral admission requirements for Turkish and foreign students apply to start the program.

Recognition of prior learning is carried out in accordance with the relevant higher education legislation, the University's regulations governing education, examinations and assessment, and the institutional principles for exemption and credit transfer. Students may apply, within the specified deadlines, for exemption and credit transfer based on courses successfully completed at another higher education institution or on equivalent prior learning. Applications are evaluated by the relevant board or commission with due consideration of course content, credit/ECTS values, grades obtained, and their compatibility with the curriculum and learning outcomes of the relevant programme.
If the students who have been enrolled in another Higher Education University in Turkey or abroad where they have previously studied apply within the first week, their credit and grade transfer requests are evaluated by the board of directors of the relevant education unit and a decision is made to cover the whole education and for one time only.

All students enrolled at Anadolu University are assigned a faculty academic advisor to provide guidance and support throughout their studies. Academic advisors offer counselling from the beginning of the student's academic programme until graduation, assisting students with academic, administrative, and other matters related to university life. In particular, advisors provide guidance during course registration and course selection processes, monitor students' academic progress, and support them in making informed decisions regarding their educational pathways.

The programme is delivered in face-to-face / blended mode. Students are enrolled on the programme as (full-time / part-time) students. Teaching and learning activities are conducted in accordance with the programme curriculum, including the semester structure, scheduled class hours, practical components, and, where applicable, online learning environments.

A variety of assessment methods such as mid-term(s), assignment(s), exercise(s), project(s), practice(s), and a final exam are implemented in the programme. Assessment methods may include classical test(s), multiple-choice test(s), homework(s), performance evaluation(s), and product evaluation(s). In order to graduate from the programme, cumulative GPA must be minimum 2.00. A course grade is constituted by evaluating the above stated elements and given by using letters. Letter grades and their associated coefficients are as follows;
In this program, different assessment methods such as midterm, homework, exercise, project, practice and final exam are applied. Evaluation methods may include classical exam, multiple choice exam, homework, performance evaluation and product evaluation. In order to graduate from the program, the weighted grade point average must be at least 2.00. The grade of a course is determined as a result of the evaluation of the above elements and is given as a letter grade. Letter grades and the coefficient of each grade are given below.

A student is required to successfully complete the designated program of courses meet a minimum of 240 ECTS credit requirement and have a minimum GPA of 2.00/4.00 and no FF, DZ or YZ grades.
The student must have succeeded in all courses in the program and must not have a grade of FF, DZ or YZ. In this program, the student must provide a minimum of 240 ECTS credits and have a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.

To be awarded a Bachelor's Degree, students must successfully complete all compulsory and elective courses specified in the curriculum of the programme in which they are enrolled, together with any required internship, practical training, project, or other academic requirements. To qualify for graduation, students must successfully complete at least 240 ECTS credits, have no failed courses, achieve the minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) specified in the relevant regulations (at least 2.00 on a 4.00 scale), and fulfil all other graduation requirements prescribed by the programme.
The student must have successfully completed at least 7 courses, a seminar course, a specialization course and a thesis study with a total of not less than 60 ECTS credits, must have a grade of at least YT, CC or above in all courses taken, and must have a GPA of at least 2.50 out of 4.00.

Students who successfully fulfil all programme requirements are awarded a Bachelor's Degree Diploma in Program in Instrument Making and Repair Graduates obtain a Level 6 (Bachelor's Degree) qualification within the Turkish Qualifications Framework (TQF).

It is possible to work in instrument making departments of universities, various art and design, music and music technology departments / faculties, state conservatories, state orchestras, private orchestras, symphony orchestras and opera-ballets affiliated to the Ministry of Culture, etc. There are employment opportunities in various positions. With the formation, they can be appointed as teachers in secondary education institutions within the Ministry of National Education. They also have the opportunity to work in private music centers and instrument making workshops or to open their own private workshop.

Graduates of the programme are eligible to apply for Master's Degree programmes (with or without a thesis) in accordance with the relevant legislation governing graduate education and the admission requirements of the receiving higher education institution.
Students can apply to doctoral programs or proficiency in art programs in any field.
