The purpose of the Department of Physical Education and Sports is to transfer the basic knowledge and skills necessary for the processes of analyzing physical education and sports, questioning and researching, making predictions and taking the right decisions. Students have to do the necessary studies within the framework of scientific principles during their education. It is aimed to design efficient systems in the field of physical education and sports, to train qualified personnel, to introduce developing sports technology opportunities, and to develop physical education and sports throughout the country. Thus, the student participating in the applied training programs is aimed to be a staff member who knows the structure, functioning and behaviour of the human organism, knows the Turkish sports organization and can make comparative evaluations, and has the qualifications of teaching and coaching. In line with the educational purposes of the Institute of Health Sciences, the Department of Physical Education and Sports allows students to reach Master (M.Sc.) and Doctorate (PhD) degrees after a minimum of 2 and 4 years of education. During their education, students have to do theoretical and experimental studies within the framework of scientific principles. There is a Master's (M.Sc.) and Doctorate (PhD) education in the Department of Physical Education and Sports structured under the rules and regulations of Anadolu University Institute of Health Sciences. Announcements are made for the Master's (M.Sc.) and Doctorate (Ph.D) Programs according to the requirements of the University and the relevant department, and students are accepted to the Master's and Doctorate programs after meeting the conditions specified by the Institute of Health Sciences. Master students are obliged to take the compulsory and elective courses and to present his thesis depending on the investigation conducted. After presenting their thesis to the institute, students have to defend their work orally in front of a jury consisting of three faculty members. For the non-thesis master's degree, students are required to take courses and prepare a term project. Students who successfully complete their lectures and term projects have to take a proficiency exam in front of a jury of three faculty members. The student has approximately 2 years to obtain a Master's degree. The doctoral program requires course acquisition and research. At the end of the courses, the student is obliged to take the proficiency exam. If the student passes this exam, he finds an original research topic in line with his advisor's suggestions and begins to work and prepares his thesis. After presenting their thesis to the institute, students have to defend their work orally in front of a five-person jury. To complete the doctorate program, there are 4 years apart from the Master's program.
