Department of Mathematics Education is in the Departments of Mathematics and Science Education in the Faculty of Education. Primary School Mathematics Teacher Education Program is conducted by Department of Mathematics Education, which has four professors, four associate professors, eight assistant professors. In addition, within the Graduate School of Educational Sciences, master's degree and doctoral degree programs in Mathematics Education are conducted by academic members of Department of Mathematics Education. These programs have accepted students since the academic year of 2010-2011. In both graduate programs, mathematics education research studies with regard to different grade levels ranging from primary education to higher education have been conducted considering the sequential and cumulative nature of mathematics and the processes of teaching and learning mathematical concepts. With this property, these Mathematics Education graduate programs are unique among the programmes conducted throughout the country. In these programs, in different domains of mathematics such as geometry and algebra, a number of graduate level courses focusing on student and teacher training that deal with various aspects such as the investigation of conceptual development to the use of technology in teaching concepts have been conducted.
