Anadolu University LEE The Instrument Making Major with Thesis Master's program has been reorganized in the 2023-2024 academic year to provide contemporary education in an innovative model, aligned with today's technological standards. Instead of a conventional approach to instrument making based solely on wood technology, the program focuses on a modern curriculum that allows for conceptual and scientific instrument design and making studies within an interdisciplinary perspective, in line with 21st-century production practices. The program aims to create a rich infrastructure that supports the use of different materials, electronics, and digital production techniques, alongside traditional wood technologies. The department's work is continuously developed with the latest technological advancements and research, incorporating world-class technical materials and equipment. With both a traditional and innovative educational approach, our department continues its workshop activities with a focus on traditional instruments, early music period instruments, Turkish music instruments, experimental instruments, and artistic instrument designs. Embracing an interdisciplinary mission with this educational perspective, our department aims to train versatile and highly aware luthier candidates who can keep up with the times, as well as create relevant productions. It continues to integrate contemporary approaches and innovations into its educational program. In today's world, where traditional production methods have lost their relevance, and in line with a sustainable production approach, The Instrument Making Major Master's Program aims to internalize hybrid production methods that focus on societal development, conservation, and innovation, in parallel with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. In this context, the program continues its conceptual and scientific activities.
