At the end of this course, the student: 1. will be able to define the main features of an academic research article in the English language.
1.1. lists the characteristics of a research article as: originality, objectivity, being data-driven, and appropriate use and citation of secondary sources.
1.2. defines the rules of citation for the secondary sources found and used during literature review.
At the end of this course, the student: will be able to analyse and evaluate academic essays of various rhetorical modes based on their organisation, unity, and content.
2.1. examines Example, Opinion, Classification, Process, Compare and Contrast, Cause and Effect, Problem and Solution, Argumentative, Summary- Analysis, Review, Research essay types using critical reading skills and evaluates them based on English academic writing criteria and citation rules of APA.
2.2. analyses research articles written by native and non-native writers using checklists, evaluates, and corrects them.
Bu dersin sonunda öğrenci: Verilen konulara göre çeşitli türlerde akademik kompozisyonlar yazar.
The student 3.1. writes Example, Opinion, Classification, Process, Compare and Contrast, Cause and Effect, Problem and Solution, Argumentative, Summary- Analysis, Review, Research essays based on given topics using APA citation techniques appropriately.
3.2. analyses and evaluates feedback from peers and teachers on academic essays, and rewrites them to improve his/her writing.
