This course teaches students to establish the core mechanics–balance–progression triad based on the historical foundations of game design and to integrate this with story/character and world/atmosphere design. Students iterate on gameplay physics, player interaction, difficulty/reward curves, and telemetry data through rapid prototyping and testing cycles. At the end of the term, a playable prototype refined with feedback, a design document (GDD), and a presentation are submitted. |
