The Emergency and Disaster Management Associate Degree Program was opened to meet the demand for trained manpower from public institutions and organizations, local governments, private institutions and non-governmental organizations serving in this field. For this purpose, it is aimed to increase the capacity to effectively cope with emergencies and disasters and to train personnel with the knowledge and skills needed in the field of Emergency and Disaster Management.

Admission to the programme is based on the relevant higher education legislation and the central placement procedures administered by the Centre for Assessment, Selection and Placement (ÖSYM). Candidates who are offered a place in the programme must complete their registration within the deadlines announced in the University's academic calendar and registration announcements, in accordance with the applicable legislation. To complete final registration, candidates must satisfy all general and programme-specific admission requirements. Admission through horizontal transfer is conducted in accordance with the relevant legislation and the principles established by the relevant academic unit. The application and admission procedures for international students are carried out in accordance with the applicable legislation.

Recognition of prior learning is carried out in accordance with the relevant higher education legislation, the University's regulations governing education, examinations and assessment, and the institutional principles for exemption and credit transfer. Students may apply, within the specified deadlines, for exemption and credit transfer based on courses successfully completed at another higher education institution or on equivalent prior learning. Applications are evaluated by the relevant board or commission with due consideration of course content, credit/ECTS values, grades obtained, and their compatibility with the curriculum and learning outcomes of the relevant programme.

The programme is delivered in open and distance mode. Students are enrolled on the programme as students. Teaching and learning activities are conducted in accordance with the programme curriculum, including the semester structure, scheduled class hours, practical components, and, where applicable, online learning environments.

Examinations and course passing are governed by the Anadolu University Open Education Faculty Regulations on Education and Examinations, the Implementation Principles for Education and Examinations in the Open Education, Faculty, and the Principles of the Student Evaluation System in the Open Education Faculty.

A student is required to successfully complete the designated program of courses meet a minimum of 120 ECTS credit requirement and have a minimum GPA of 2.00/4.00 and no FF, DZ or YZ grades.

Students who have missing credits below these credits cannot graduate.Students who fulfill graduation requirements in the Emergency and Disaster Management Associate Degree Program receive the “Open Education Faculty Emergency and Disaster Management Associate Degree Program Diploma”.

To be awarded an Associate Degree, students must successfully complete all compulsory and elective courses specified in the curriculum of the programme in which they are enrolled, together with any required internship, practical training, project, or other academic requirements. To qualify for graduation, students must successfully complete at least 120 ECTS credits, have no failed courses, achieve the minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) specified in the relevant regulations (at least 2.00 on a 4.00 scale), and fulfil all other graduation requirements prescribed by the programme.
Graduation RequirementsStudents who have taken 120 ECTS credits in the Emergency and Disaster Management Associate Degree Program, successfully completed all courses, have no FF, YZ, DZ grades, have a General Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 2.00 and fulfill other obligations can graduate. It is not possible to graduate with missing credits below these credits.Students who fulfill the graduation requirements in the Emergency and Disaster Management Associate Degree Program receive the “Open Education Faculty Emergency and Disaster Management Associate Degree Program Diploma”.

Students who successfully fulfil all programme requirements are awarded an Associate Degree Diploma in Emergency and Disaster Management Graduates obtain a Level 5 (Associate Degree) qualification within the Turkish Qualifications Framework (TQF).

Graduates who successfully complete the Emergency and Disaster Management Associate Degree Program will have the knowledge and skills to use today's scientific and technological infrastructure in the field of "Emergency and Disaster Management".

Students who successfully complete the program and receive the title of "Emergency and Disaster Management Technician" can have the opportunity to work in various public institutions and organizations such as the Prime Ministry Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), Provincial Disaster and Emergency Directorates, AFAD Search and Rescue Unit Directorate, as well as the Ministry of Health Emergency Health Services General Directorate and Hospitals, the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, Local Governments, in the private sector, and in non-governmental organizations such as the Red Crescent and UMKE (National Medical Rescue Team).

In the face of disaster and emergency events experienced in our country, it has become necessary to put forward new approaches to solving the problem in parallel with the advances in science and technology. It is observed that the relevant institutions and organizations, especially the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and the Prime Ministry Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency, which are active in this regard, play an active role in the process of implementing these new approaches. In addition, it is observed that the needs for the establishment of relevant standards, the establishment of data management centers and information systems, the preparation of legislation, and the increase of public awareness of new approaches continue to increase day by day. In this respect, it is possible to add emergency and disaster management technicians to take part in the work to be done in these areas.

Graduates of Associate Degree programmes may apply for admission to Bachelor's Degree programmes through the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS), in accordance with the provisions of the Regulation on the Continuation of Bachelor's Education for Graduates of Vocational Schools and Open Education Associate Degree Programmes and the relevant higher education legislation.
