The Undergraduate Program in Philosophy was launched in the Faculty of Open Education in 2009. Students are accepted to the program after taking the university entrance exam held by OSYM (Student Selection and Placement Center). The program provides students that have no chance to attend the courses with the opportunity to get educatin in philosophy. 

The curriculum in this department is designed in accordance with the semester-based system and the period of education is four years. Students of the faculties offering distance education take four exams set in separate sessions. Students take those exams in the cities where the administrative bureaus are located. Graduates of the department can apply for postgraduate programs in philosophy or related academic fields, and can be prosperous in positions requiring intellectual creativity in the public and private sector. 

The aim of the program is to improve rational and conceptual thinking skills of students and to ensure that they meet requirements of the modern life. The program offers courses on philosophical heritage, in addition to the courses on philosophically problematic issues and critical thinking.      

The main learning material of students studying in philosophy program is textbooks. The textbooks used in courses taken through distance education were prepared by the faculty members who are experts in their subjects, according to self-learning principles. In addition to this, TV programs about the courses have been prepared, and a supporting service has been given online through internet.
