  • Profile of the Programme

All social, political, cultural, administrative and financial phenomena are generally associated with economics. For this reason, economics has a great importance in understanding the past and present, and evaluating the future, both at the country and world level, and in business life. The aim of the Economics undergraduate program in English is to provide a teaching that includes current economic theory and applications in different economic systems. The courses are designed for highly competitive business areas in both the public and private sectors. The Department of Economics trains economists who will work to conduct research and practice at various stages of economic life, and provides academic formation to individuals who will work in the public and private sectors by making use of quantitative techniques such as mathematics, statistics and econometrics within the framework of economic theory. Economics education covers two basic processes. The first of these is to teach the economic principles and tools to be used in post-university life, and thus to train a qualified workforce, which is required by economic units trying to be successful in the face of rapidly changing global conditions. The second is to develop the ability to think systematically and independently, which can be useful in all areas of human life, and to provide students with a scientific discipline in economic matters.
