The Department of Speech and Language Therapy

Speech and language therapy represents the speciality of speech and language disorders. The department was established in 2000-2001. The aim of the programme is to train students as health sciences-specific professionals who have the authority to independently evaluate, plan, treat and treat speech and language disorders in their own field, starting from the process of differential diagnosis and differential diagnosis of human communication, development and disorders. 

The Master's Programme of the Department of Speech and Language Therapy was opened in the fall semester of the 2000-2001 academic year and the Doctorate Programme was opened in the fall semester of the 2004-2005 academic year. 

The duration of the master's programme with thesis is four semesters and the programme is completed in maximum six semesters. Students from other programmes other than the graduates of Speech and Language Therapy undergraduate programme cannot apply to master's or doctoral programmes at Anadolu University. 

In order to graduate from the master's programme with thesis, it is required to take at least 7 courses, thesis proposal and seminar courses as well as Speech and Language Therapy Clinic I-II courses with a total of not less than 60 ECTS credits; In order to graduate from the non-thesis master's programme, it is required to take at least 10 courses with a total of not less than 90 ECTS credits. (In order to open a non-thesis master's programme, very privileged conditions must be met).

The doctoral programme provides expertise and academic competence in the sub-fields of speech and language disorders. In order to graduate from the PhD programme, it is required to take at least 7 courses, qualifying exam, thesis proposal and seminar courses as well as Speech and Language Therapy Clinic I-II courses with a total of not less than 60 ECTS credits; in order to graduate from the integrated PhD programme, it is required to take at least 14 courses, qualifying exam, thesis proposal and seminar courses as well as Applied Clinical Study I-II in the master's programme and Speech and Language Therapy Clinic I-II courses in the PhD programme with a total of not less than 120 ECTS credits.
