The Distance Education Theses-based Master's Degree Program, conducted within the Department of Open and Distance Learning, aims to train qualified experts with theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of distance education, as well as researchers with the ability to conduct academic research. Within the scope of the program, learners are expected to gain the competencies to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate distance education processes in various contexts, from primary and secondary education to higher education, and from corporate training to lifelong learning, within the framework of national and international quality standards. In addition, the program aims to develop the academic skills necessary to contribute to the literature through field-specific scientific research.

The primary educational objective of the program is that at least 75% of its graduates will continue their academic studies in the field of Open and Distance Learning.

The program is offered under the Institute of Graduate Studies at Anadolu University. Student admissions are conducted at the beginning of each academic year. ALES and foreign language scores are taken into consideration in the admission process, and no interview is conducted.

Within the scope of the program, students are required to successfully complete six compulsory courses and four elective courses, and to prepare and defend a master’s thesis.
