Week - 1 Informing about the process of the course. Distribution of course grades to the students. Providing information about the index operation. What is desktop publishing? Desktop publishing items. Informing about desktop publishing programs related to computer programs. Examination of the samples in terms of designs, desktop publishing, newspapers and magazines.
Week - 2 Informing about Newspaper and magazine typesetting,layout concepts. Sharing the difference between the concepts of typesetting and layout. Sharing concepts such as logo, emblem, banner, subheading,circulation. Registering definitions of the concepts to index. Examination of the concepts through samples of magazines and newspapers.
Week - 3 Sharing concepts such as Circulation, Article, Ad, Local Newspaper, Draft, Draft Printing, Publishing, row and column . Registering definitions of the concepts to index. Examination of the concepts through samples of magazines and newspapers.
Week - 4 Sharing concepts such as Standard size, tabloid size, original title, title, subtitle, search title. Registering of the concepts to index. Examination of the concepts through samples of magazines and newspapers.
Week - 5 Sharing concepts such as Blocking, Block paragraph, the start block, Bottom block, the applicant signs, calligraphy, decorative fonts. Registering definitions of the concepts to index. Examination of the concepts through samples of magazines and newspapers.
Week - 6 Sharing concepts such as Fitted case (initial letters), Survivors, checking, concept, message, target audience. Registering definitions of the concepts to index. Examination of the concepts through samples of magazines and newspapers.
Week - 7 Introducing QuarkXPress program that is one of the most widely used desktop publishing programs. Sharing the reason for the selection of the program. Defining the concepts of the EPS, and PDF. Launching Quark program. Setting a new page. Defining concepts such as Top, Bottom, Left, Right. Setting the page margins.Opening the new page with the new settings. Doing practice.
Week - 8 Sharing the information about the functions of QuarkXPress menus. Printing by using QuarkXPress program. Conducting the application.
Week - 9 Use of QuarkXPress tools, Window Size (Measurements) : sharing the information about space and image space is different. Sharing font size window commands, conducting the application.
Week - 10 Sharing the commands of photo area measurement window. Conducting the application.
Week - 11 Sharing the use of Runarround command. Sharing the application of Fitted Case . Conducting the application.
Week - 12 Introduction of the Modify window commands. Comparison with Measurements. Sharing of the use of Drop Shadow command. Conducting the application.
Week - 13 Using Text to Box command. Conducting sample application. Magazine to be issued at the end of the period for the preparatory work in order to make the application. Task-sharing plan and the pages of the journal settings.
Week - 14 Studies on the draft of the journal.
