Weeks Topics
Week - 1 General information about glass and history of glass in Turkey. Video show about art of glassware decorated with spiral stripes or flower designs (Çeşm-i Bülbül) and making process.
Week - 2 Separation of students to two groups. Presentation of hot glass shaping techniques, hot glass shaping tools, melting furnace and trammel. Encouraging students to take glass from melting furnace. Subject: Paper weight. Giving information about the subject. (Two groups will join together)
Week - 3 Group A: Presentation of taking glass, first bubble production and glass blowing techniques. Passing to free style hot glass blowing. Transparent core making. Group B: Explaining sand casting technique and presentation of one or three piece mold production.
Week - 4 Group A: Carrying on blowing studies by team work. Presentation of paper weight technique. Group B: 2D design by choosing appropriate 2D mask or, animal figure or own brands or logos.
Week - 5 Group A: Paper weight designing by blowing technique. (Team work) Group B: Making models of chosen designs by using clay, molding of models, transforming them to plaster models.
Week - 6 Group A: Finishing of paper weight designs made by blowing technique. Group B: Hot glass casting by using sand mold.
Week - 7 Group A: Finishing of paper weight designs made by blowing technique. Group B: Hot glass casting by using sand mold.
Week - 8 Group B: Explaining sand casting technique and presentation of one or three piece mold making. Group A: Presentation of taking glass, first bubble production and glass blowing techniques. Passing to free style hot glass blowing. Transparent core making.
Week - 9 Group B: Designing 2D mask, 3D figure or abstract form appropriate to sand casting technique. Group A: Carrying on blowing studies by team work. Presentation of paper weight technique.
Week - 10 Group B: Making models of chosen designs by using clay, molding of models, transforming them to plaster models. Resinous sand molding of plaster model. Group A: Paper weight designing by blowing technique. (Team work)
Week - 11 Group B: Casting of hot glass to sand molds. Group B: Finishing of paper weight designs which are made by blowing technique.
Week - 12 Group B: Casting of hot glass to sand molds. Group B: Finishing of paper weight designs which are made by blowing technique.
Week - 13 Making last retouches getting ready for presentation by image pictures and sketches.
Week - 14 General evaluation of the term.
