  • 1. Will be able to explain the critical political economy concept’s historical background and its difference in paralel to the development of capitalism. 1.1. Explains the difference of political economy from other social approaches. 1.2. Defines the political economy’s importance, subject and method. 1.3. States the fields which are become problem of political economy concerning culture and media.
  • 2. Will be able to evaluate the critical political economy’s approach to culture industries within the scope of world system. 2.1. Explains the world system theory. 2.2. Defines the difference of critical approaches concerning culture industry concept. 2.3. Discusses the process of culture and mass communication of our day in the sense of political economy.
  • 3. Will be able to analyze the consumption culture’s political economy within the frame of monopolization and convergence tendencies in the media. 3.1. Interrogates the mastership problem and monopolization tendency in the media. 3.2. Interprets the convergence tendency in culture industries. 3.3. Discusses our present-day’s consumer culture, lifestyles and spare times.
  • 4. Will be able to interpret the media politics and the media contents taken shape as part of the structural change in Turkey in the axis of political economy approach. 4.1. Discusses the media contents in terms of economy, politics and cultural dynamics. 4.2. Interrogates the media institutions in the way of public broadcasting. 4.3. Evaluates the Turkish media through an original project within the context of political economy which will be prepared at the end of the period.
