  • Discusses the geopolitical significance of Balkans, categorizes the Balkan history into phases and describes the main characteristics of each period, defines and evaluates the cultural and social structure of the Balkans with an intercultural approach.
  • Defines the influence of ethnosymbolism on Balkan nationalisms, describes the formation of nation states under the roof of Yugoslavia, explains the common features of Balkan nationalisms.
  • Understands the developments in the Balkans during the Balkan Wars, examines the incidents that occurred in the region during the First World War, analyses the events that occurred during the interwar period and grasps the rising period of dictatorships in the Balkans as a result of WWI, investigates the effects of the Second World War’s reflections in the region and explores the new conjuncture that emerged after the Second World War.
  • Makes a general evaluation of the Cold War, examines bilateral and multilateral relations of the countries of the same region, understands the presence of the Western Bloc in the Balkans, describes the Eastern Bloc under the control of the USSR considering the Balkans, analyzes the political role of Yugoslavia in the region.
