Will define the concepts of health and disease and explain the World Health Organization’s definitions of health and disease.
Will be able to explain the classification of diseases based on clinical progression (progressive, non-progressive, acute, chronic, lethal, recurrent, etc.)
Will be able to classify diseases according to physiological body systems.
Will be able to explain the basic characteristics of nervous system, cardiovascular system, respiratory system, and digestive system diseases.
Will be able to describe the basic characteristics of urinary–reproductive system diseases, hematologic–endocrine diseases, immune–infectious diseases, and sensory system disorders.
Will classify and compare diseases occurring in different physiological systems.
Will be able to explain the basic symptoms and clinical signs associated with diseases.
Will explain the basic laboratory tests used in diseases and their clinical significance.
Will be able to interpret the relationships between disease, symptoms, and laboratory findings.
