This course provides an introduction to the aging process and geropsychiatric assessment methods. Topics include dementia, Parkinson’s disease, delirium, mood, anxiety, and psychotic disorders, as well as substance use disorders in older adults. The course also covers the management of behavioral and psychological symptoms, geropsychiatric emergencies, mental health in institutional care, palliative care, and psychosocial support during bereavement. The aim of the course is to equip students with fundamental knowledge and skills in geriatric mental health and to foster a holistic professional perspective. |
