Fundamental concepts of mythology, Panofsky’s iconography and iconological method; Sumerian mythology and the Epic of Gilgamesh; origins of Turkish mythology: shamanism, gods, spirits, heroes, colors, animals, the universe, the world, and tree cults; Anatolian mythology; Ottoman and Islamic mythology through miniature art; Jung, collective unconscious and symbols in psychology; Campbell, comparative mythology, monomyth, and the hero’s journey; occultism, esotericism, tarot cards, and astrological archetypes; cosmic order, earth, sky, water, light, mother, death, dreams, and awakening themes in mythic imagery and contemporary sculpture. |
