This course teaches the fundamentals of high-performance computing; developing result-oriented applications using parallel programming on supercomputers and cluster architectures. Students apply parallel algorithms such as intensive matrix, sorting, graph, and dynamic programming using shared memory (OpenMP) and distributed memory/messaging (MPI/Open MPI) models. Performance concepts such as scalability, load balancing, communication cost, and memory locality are covered, along with profiling/debugging tools and the compile-run workflow on clusters. |
