Week - 1 Introduction to the objectives, scope, and methodology of the course. Overview of the historical development of compositional thought and fundamental analytical approaches in music analysis.
Week - 2 Examination of the fundamental characteristics of Baroque musical language, including counterpoint, polyphonic texture, basso continuo, and formal organization. Stylistic analysis of selected repertoire.
Week - 3 Study of formal balance, thematic development techniques, and tonal organization in the Classical period, supported by analytical examination of selected works.
Week - 4 Exploration of the expanded harmonic language, expressive aesthetics, and narrative intensity of the Romantic period, with comparative stylistic and structural analysis.
Week - 5 Investigation of the transformation of tonality and emerging harmonic and formal approaches in the early modern period.
Week - 6 Study of polyphonic writing techniques and the historical development of contrapuntal practices, with analysis of representative examples from different periods.
Week - 7 Examination of tonal and modal systems in compositional practice and the concept of extended tonality.
Week - 8 Theoretical foundations of twelve-tone technique and principles of serial organization, supported by analytical study of selected works.
Week - 9 Study of aleatory music, the concept of indeterminacy, and open-form compositional approaches.
Week - 10 Score-based analysis of selected works, focusing on formal design, harmonic language, and textural organization.
Week - 11 Evaluation of composers' stylistic characteristics, aesthetic perspectives, and strategies of musical expression.
Week - 12 Student presentations featuring analytical studies on selected works or composers.
