Programme of Primary School Mathematics Teaching is a bachelor's degree programme in the Department of Primary Education in the Faculty of Education. Besides the required subject matter courses, the programme offers courses on vocational training, general knowledge and practice. Students can also take elective courses. Lessons are carried out both theoretically and practically. Theoretical courses are carried out in classes equipped with technological facilities. Practical courses are given in two academic terms with the collaboration of Faculty of Education, provincial directorates of National Education, and Training Primary Schools and with the supervision of course teachers and teachers in training schools. All theoretical courses in the Primary School Mathematics Teaching Programme especially emphasize the microstructure-property-performance relationships and applications of these, which are constructed in mathematics and education fields. Programme of Primary School Mathematics Teaching was founded in the academic year of 1998 to train mathematics teachers who will teach in second stage of Primary Education (5th - 8th grades). It has accepted students since the academic year of 1998-1999.That year, the number of students admitted to the department was 40. This number gradually went up to 80 until the academic year 2013-2014. The Programme of Primary School Mathematics Teaching, which is in the Faculty of Education of Anadolu University, Yunus Emre Campus, has 6 associate professors, 4 assistant professors, 1 lecturer doctors, 2 research assistant doctors and 2 research assistants. The decisions about the programme are made by the department academic board, consisting of the head of the department, two deputy heads and heads of the programme.
