  • Profile of the Programme

Art History is a discipline which analyzes material culture objects rising in history conditions. It analyzes the formation, function and feature of art in various places in a historical process. Also, by making interpretations on artists and their works, it aims at helping art to be understood. The data and information collected related to changes based on man and production intend to elucidate the work of art, which is the main subject of art history. The primary feature of work of art is that it resists time and it can keep its permanence throughout generations and remain international. Therefore, an art historian is responsible for enlightening this permanence of art phenomenon and pointing out the ways based on information and methods that will merge it with modern sensibility. He analyzes the works surviving from various periods of history till today in a scientific way and carries out a structuralist analysis on this topic. He considers all the art creations, art schools and art protectors of a country, area or period in terms of their public value. Our graduates can find career opportunities as researchers and experts in the field; be employed in libraries, archives, museums and palaces; and take part in archaeological excavations.
