  • Profile of the Programme

The Department of History of the Republic of Turkey is located within the Department of History, which was established in 1993. The Science of History is a science that examines the development of societies in political, economic, cultural and social fields, starting from the ancient times, within the space-time relationship. It aims to reveal the contributions of societies to world civilization and shed light on the present and the future. The aim of the Department of Turkish Republic History is to examine and research the liberation of the new Turkish State and the establishment and development process of the Republic of Turkey within a scientific framework. In this context, it examines the reasons that led to the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, documents the value and importance of the War of Independence carried out by the Turkish nation under the leadership of Ataturk, and seeks an answer to the question of why the Republic of Turkey was structured as a democratic, secular state of law. Thus, it aims to be a guide by finding solutions to the problems of the present and the future, to create national consciousness in future generations, and to strengthen the love of homeland and nation.
