Tourism education involves giving students the necessary knowledge and competencies to manage tourism establisments that are being operated in a competitive environment. Considering the tourism event in terms of accommodation, food and beverage, travel businesses and similar organizations, a common field of study is emerging with the science of maagement. Subjects ranging from investment decisions and evaluation of projects in the field of tourism to the establishment, organization, management of tourism enterprises, financing, marketing and personnel management, constitute the field of study of the tourism management discipline.

The main purpose of the tourism management department is to train qualified personnel for the tourism sector. The department is an undergraduate program consisting of four-year education, covering tourism and management courses. The title of the students who have successfully completed their undergraduate education is "Tourism Business Manager".

The courses in the department are based on travel, accommodation and transportation industry. Due to the relationship of tourism discipline with other disciplines, courses in marketing, management organization, finance, economics and sociology are given in the department. In addition, students can take elective courses in different disciplines that they are interested in.

Vision and Mission of the Department

Vision

To become a department that has national and international recognition with its contributions to the field both sectoral and scientifically by educating students who have taken ethical principles as a guide, who are committed to solving social and environmental problems, who are committed to national values but are also aware of global competition, and who can quickly adapt to the requirements of the age.

Mission

To train candidates who are human-oriented and sensitive to the environment, who are highly aware, qualified, who have the reflex of keeping up with the intense competition environment with the knowledge and skills required to be a good manager, and who are committed to academic ethical principles that will contribute to the production of knowledge in the field of tourism.

Teaching Objectives of the Department of Tourism Management

1. To train lower, middle and senior level managerial candidates who have good knowledge of one or more foreign languages, enabling them to manage tourism businesses effectively and efficiently. In this context, to raise graduates who follow the latest developments in the tourism sector, direct these developments, be proactive, have communication and empathy skills, and contribute to innovations in the sector by collaborating with national and international tourism stakeholders.

2. To ensure their employment in tourism-related areas of the public sector; In addition, to train academic candidates who have good knowledge of foreign languages and adhere to academic ethical principles, who will contribute to the production of knowledge in the field of tourism.

3. To train entrepreneurs who can establish their own businesses in the tourism sector, have cultural knowledge, have high professional knowledge, have adopted sustainability principles, and can develop creative and innovative solution suggestions.
