Introduction to phytochemistry; definiton of primary and secondary metabolites. Primary metabolites: carbonhydrates, fatty acids, amino acids. Secondary metabolites: Glycosides (phenolics, cyanogenics,flavonoids, antraquinones, antrocyanins, coumarins, cardiotonic saponins); the triterpenic and steroidal compounds: terpens, alkaloids, waxes, resins, balsams. Identification, extraction, isolation, purification, structureelucidation of primary and secondary metabolites. |
