Catalog Content This course examines the evolution of the power structure in Rome and theMiddle Ages, starting from the citizen-power relationship in Ancient Greece,and the birth of the modern state. It focuses on the development of the powerof reason and the sovereignty of the people through the English Revolutionsand the Enlightenment period. This examination, which ended with theFrench Revolution, provides an understanding of political ideologies and theconcept of the nation-state, and offers a brief and intense look at the historicaldevelopment of political thought.
