The historical development of intellectual property rights; the origins of the need for protection for these rights; methods for acquiring these rights in national and international settings; the scope of protection for rights acquired in both Turkey and other countries; measures applicable to protect these rights; international agreements concerning these rights; international organizations implementing these agreements; and the current status of European Union negotiations will be discussed.
