Aims of the Course This course aims to critically examine the core theories, approaches, and intervention models that constitute the foundation of social work as a discipline and profession from a generalist social work perspective. Focusing on the principles of human rights (first, second, and third generation rights), social justice, collective responsibility, human dignity, non-maleficence, and respect for diversities, the course grounds emancipatory practice to challenge structural inequalities and oppressive power dynamics. While developing skills to work with people and structures at individual, family, group, and community (micro, mezo, macro) levels, it integrates indigenous knowledge against Western theoretical hegemony and interdisciplinary knowledge. It aims to enable students to link theory with practice within the framework of the planned change process and develop ethical, holistic, and empowering intervention strategies through rights-based case analyses.
