Department of Public Relations and Advertising proposes to train communication professionals who specialize in all aspects of creativity, strategy, branding, consumer behavior and research, as well as in all aspects of public relations, corporate communication and management management. The department aims to develop it with equipment that aims to develop, can think differently and design future communication projects.

Public relations and advertising are communication disciplines. This discipline has an interdisciplinary structure that is closely related to various disciplines such as social psychology, economics, politics and neuroscience. Within the structure, perceptions about institutions, services and brands are created, managed and measured. At the same time, it is ensured that a hardware for the most up-to-date information and applications is acquired.

In line with these goals, the program offers its students a pool of basic and elective courses that are prepared to enable them to improve themselves in the fields of public relations and advertising. In the department, theoretical and applied courses supported by industry professionals on how the processes involved in the research, planning, strategy, creativity, implementation and evaluation stages required to find insight based on the data obtained from the consumer in the field of advertising, to transform it into advertising content, to plan the target audience and to measure the results. In the field of public relations, there are theoretical and practical courses supported by industry professionals in areas such as image-reputation building, crisis communication, global communication, corporate social responsibility from a corporate communication perspective.

Through the courses of digital communication and application, visual design, 360-degree communication campaign design, students have the opportunity to gain experience during university, create a portfolio and benefit from the international connections of the program. The students of the department have the opportunity to work and internship with industry professionals by getting education from the leading names of the sector as well as academicians with important academic studies. At the same time, through the workshops and seminars held, an environment for students to meet, meet and discuss with the leading experts of the field is created.

Department of Public Relations and Advertising  offers 30% English education. The program includes basic and elective English lessons. Public Relations and Advertising Program constantly updates its curriculum in line with the changes in the field of communication and industry-specific expectations, including digital communication applications.

Department of Public Relations and Advertising is the first and only department in our country whose courses were accredited by the International Advertising Association, known as the International Advertising Association (IAA), between 1992 and 2022.

The department has a student and academic staff exchange program offered by various cultural exchange programs and offers its students the opportunity to study abroad thanks to bilateral agreements made with many universities around the world. At the same time, various scientific research projects funded by the University, TUBITAK and the European Union are carried out by the faculty members of the department.

In Faculty of Communication Sciences, Department of Public Relations and Advertising ; 7 professors, 6 associate professors, 6 assistant professors, 2 lecturers, 1 research assistant doctor and 2 research assistants are constantly on duty. The faculty members of the department are specialized in advertising and public relations, according to their academic field of study. 

 

Admission to the programme is based on the relevant higher education legislation and the central placement procedures administered by the Centre for Assessment, Selection and Placement (ÖSYM). Candidates who are offered a place in the programme must complete their registration within the deadlines announced in the University's academic calendar and registration announcements, in accordance with the applicable legislation. To complete final registration, candidates must satisfy all general and programme-specific admission requirements. Admission through horizontal transfer is conducted in accordance with the relevant legislation and the principles established by the relevant academic unit. The application and admission procedures for international students are carried out in accordance with the applicable legislation.

Recognition of prior learning is carried out in accordance with the relevant higher education legislation, the University's regulations governing education, examinations and assessment, and the institutional principles for exemption and credit transfer. Students may apply, within the specified deadlines, for exemption and credit transfer based on courses successfully completed at another higher education institution or on equivalent prior learning. Applications are evaluated by the relevant board or commission with due consideration of course content, credit/ECTS values, grades obtained, and their compatibility with the curriculum and learning outcomes of the relevant programme.
This program requires compulsory Intensive English Language Training. The students are exempt from the Compulsory program if they have score of 60 or above from the centralized exemption exam, or present at least 60 from YDS/YÖKDİL, 72 from TOEFL IBT or 55 from PEARSON PTE, etc.

All students enrolled at Anadolu University are assigned a faculty academic advisor to provide guidance and support throughout their studies. Academic advisors offer counselling from the beginning of the student's academic programme until graduation, assisting students with academic, administrative, and other matters related to university life. In particular, advisors provide guidance during course registration and course selection processes, monitor students' academic progress, and support them in making informed decisions regarding their educational pathways.

The programme is delivered in face-to-face / blended mode. Students are enrolled on the programme as (full-time / part-time) students. Teaching and learning activities are conducted in accordance with the programme curriculum, including the semester structure, scheduled class hours, practical components, and, where applicable, online learning environments.

A variety of assessment methods such as mid-term(s), assignment(s), exercise(s), project(s), practice(s), and a final exam are implemented in the programme. Assessment methods may include classical test(s), multiple-choice test(s), homework(s), performance evaluation(s), and product evaluation(s). In order to graduate from the programme, cumulative GPA must be minimum 2.00. A course grade is constituted by evaluating the above stated elements and given by using letters. Letter grades and their associated coefficients are as follows;
A minimum of one mid-term and final written exam are made per each course for the evaluation purposes. However they would be realized as an applied study or be delivered verbally in the circumstance of acceptance by the board of concerned faculty unit. The examination dates are determined by the board of concerned faculty unit and announced to the students two weeks prior to the exams.The success of the student is determined according to the mid-term and final exam grades together with the condition examination if applicable. The grades during a term are determined in accordance with the assignments, applied studies or other practical course work together with a minimum of one mid-term exam.In case of absence during an exam with a legitimate excuse accepted by the university senate a makeup exam is made with the decision of the concerned faculty unit in the credit system.Students requesting a makeup exam have to apply by a petition submitted to the head of the concerned faculty unit with a document indicating their excuse five days prior to the announced exam date.The weighing of grading elements such as examinations, projects, assignments etc. are determined by the course instructor and submitted to the department head and announced to the participants during the first two weeks of classes. The weighing of grading elements excluding final examination should remain in a minimum rate of 0 and/or a maximum of `. Total evaluation of a grade will be assessed by the instructor (as a letter grade such as AA, AB, BB etc.) in accordance with the grade point average of the total amount of students participated in the course.

To be awarded a Bachelor's Degree, students must successfully complete all compulsory and elective courses specified in the curriculum of the programme in which they are enrolled, together with any required internship, practical training, project, or other academic requirements. To qualify for graduation, students must successfully complete at least 240 ECTS credits, have no failed courses, achieve the minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) specified in the relevant regulations (at least 2.00 on a 4.00 scale), and fulfil all other graduation requirements prescribed by the programme.

Students who successfully fulfil all programme requirements are awarded a Bachelor's Degree Diploma in Department of Public Relations and Advertising (30% English) Graduates obtain a Level 6 (Bachelor's Degree) qualification within the Turkish Qualifications Framework (TQF).

Students who graduate from the Department of Public Relations and Advertising can take part in units operating in the field of communication and media. Considering the application areas in the sector in more detail, the aim of the department is to train students as professionals who can assume responsibilities related to advertising and public relations in all kinds of public institutions, private sector enterprises and non-governmental organizations. In this context, our graduates work in public relations departments of businesses, corporate public relations departments, marketing departments, communication departments, advertising departments, advertising agencies, digital advertising agencies, media agencies and consulting agencies, digital publishing departments, relevant departments in organization companies, media planning organizations, customer representatives. They will be able to operate in the fields of customer relations departments, media relations or copywriting positions that connect institutions with the media, and communication consultancy.

At the same time, our graduates can have job opportunities in different fields by combining the education they received from our department with a second field thanks to the opportunity to make a minor and second major. The nature of the theoretical courses in our department enables students who want to become academicians to be equipped in the theoretical field. Our graduates in the communications department of Turkey's many university faculties are involved in teaching positions.

Graduates of the programme are eligible to apply for Master's Degree programmes (with or without a thesis) in accordance with the relevant legislation governing graduate education and the admission requirements of the receiving higher education institution.
