  • Profile of the Programme

The Associate Degree Program in Social Sciences was opened in 1992 in Open Education Faculty. The program offers obligatory, domain-specific and cultural courses. In addition, students receive elective courses. Courses are conducted theoretically. Theoretical courses in the program are given in a technology-supported environment with printed materials. The courses offered are mainly related to Education, Sociology, Philosophy and Communication as well as Social Sciences. There is no quota of students in the program. The decisions related to the program are taken by coordination office of the program, located in the Open Education Faculty, Yunus Emre Campus, Anadolu University. The courses given in this program were in the form of a year-based system until 2011. However, with the regulation no. 28049, based on Article 14 of the Higher Education Law no. 2547 of November 4, 1981 and published in the Official Gazette of September 9, 2011, Anadolu University made a transition into the semester-based credit system in which,

• courses are offered in a semester-based system,
• an academic year consists of two semesters, i.e. fall and spring semester,
• one midterm and one final exam are held in each semester,
• no resit exam is offered,
• students are required to register on specified dates at the beginning of each semester in order to attend courses and get benefit from student rights,
• on semester registration dates, students can add courses in addition to the courses assigned by the faculty, on condition that the sum of credits does not exceed 45 according to related ECTS principles,
• students can graduate by completing the compulsory credit amount.
