The department comprises Modern Turkish Language, Modern Turkish Literature, Old Turkish Literature, Folklore and Old Turkic fields. Turkish Language and Literature is a field that analyzes Turkish language and literature but also allows for interdisciplinary research. Interdisciplinary studies could be conducted with fields such as language, literature, linguistics, folklore, history, sociology, psychology, philosophy and education. This program mainly aims to raise Turcologists of quality to research in the field, provide new methods in order to reach new synthesis and to work both in national and international fields. In the dissertation, the doctorate student is expected to contribute to field, create a new method or a novelty or apply an interdisciplinary method.
