The Department of Contemporary History aims to provide students with the skills of examining, analyzing and text-constructing Ottoman History, taking into account the universal understanding of history and local history knowledge. Within the scope of the research; There are topics such as the issue of periodization, Ottoman political social economic structure, Ottoman law, military history, history of diplomacy, and advanced knowledge of Ottoman Turkish. In particular, it focuses on issues such as critical reading of Ottoman sources, the change of the central-provincial order, understanding the relationship between the ruler and the ruled, and defining the Ottoman tax structure with an interdisciplinary and comparative history approach.
