Department of Graphic Arts, founded in 1985, educates creative designers who can deal with any problems about visual design and use modern equipment competently and effectively. The students are given the opportunities to realize all the projects they implement within the school via a printmaking workshop, a computer lab developed in terms of software and hardware, screen-printing workshop, offset printing units, a photo studio and darkroom. Developments in the world, especially in communication technologies, have brought the countries and cultures much closer to each other. These developments have increased the importance of promotion and advertising twice as much. Graphic Design Department, which prepares contemporary education program by the help of conceptual courses, based on theory and practice, facilitating students to develop problem solving ability throughout the process of design and manufacturing, achieves this by intensive computer and Internet use. Students go through all the stages from conceptual design to printed material by carrying out. Through the close relationship tied up with the market, Department of Graphic Design creates an atmosphere to encourage students by having them face with real design problems to involve in institution-supported projects to be adapted in real life. Furthermore, students' participation in both national and international design competitions are encouraged and supported by the university. As a result of this stimulating environment, many students of the department have won numerous awards in different design fields, such as posters, magazine covers, packaging design, photography and printmaking, both in the country and abroad.
