The Guidance and Psychological Counseling Programme is a bachelor's degree program in the Department of Educational Sciences in the Faculty of Education. Besides the required courses, the programme offers courses in the area of specialization, general culture and practice in the field. Students can also take elective courses. Courses are carried out theoretically and practically. Theoretical courses are delivered at technological classes and practical courses are given in the Counseling and Guidance Unit at the Faculty of Education, Anadolu University. Besides this, many of the practical courses are given by the guidance of responsible instructor working cooperatively with Pre-School, Primary and Secondary Schools which are connected with the Provincial Directorate of National Education.
The Program of Guidance and Counseling was founded in the fall semester of 2008 for training counselors that will work at private and public schools, counseling and research centers, counseling and guidance services of universities, counseling and rehabilitation centers, administration of justice, counseling and guidance services of ministry, general directorate of security, social services and child protection agencies and eventide homes. It started accepting students in the academic year of 2008-2009. Every year 60 students are accepted to the programme. The Programme of Guidance and Psychological Counseling.in the Faculty of Education, which is located in Anadolu University Campus of Yunus Emre, has 3 professors, 2 associate professor, 4 assistant professors, and 4 research assistants.
Besides giving education <span 20.8px;"="">in bachelor's degree level, the faculty members of the Program of Guidance and Counseling carry out theoretical and practical courses at master and doctorate levels. Moreover, they also take part in various projects as well as carrying out theoretical and practical courses.
