The Guidance and Psychological Counseling Program is an undergraduate program within the Department of Educational Sciences. The program includes compulsory courses in counseling-specific subjects, culture, and practicum. In addition, students take optional courses starting in their second year. Courses are conducted both theoretically and practically.

Theoretical courses in the program are conducted in technology-supported classrooms, while applied courses are conducted at Anadolu University, Faculty of Education, Psychological Counseling Unit. In addition, some applied courses are conducted in cooperation with kindergartens, elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools affiliated with the Provincial Directorate of National Education, under the guidance of a responsible instructor.The Guidance and Psychological Counseling Program was established to train psychological counselors who will work in public and private schools, guidance and research centers, university psychological counseling centers, psychological counseling and rehabilitation centers, courts, military units, General Directorate of Security, Social Services and Child Protection Institutions, and nursing homes. 
The program began accepting students in the 2008-2009 academic year.  
Anadolu University's Guidance and Psychological Counseling Program has an experienced academic staff offering courses at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. In addition to teaching theoretical and practical courses, faculty members participate in various national and international projects, deliver presentations at national and international conferences and symposiums related to their field, and produce publications of high scientific value.

The Guidance and Psychological Counseling Programme is a bachelor's degree program in the Department of Educational Sciences in the Faculty of Education. Besides the required courses, the program offers courses in the area of specialization, general culture, and practice in the field. Students can also take elective courses starting from the second year. The courses are carried out theoretically and practically. Theoretical courses are delivered in classes furnished by technological instruments, and practical courses are given in the Counseling and Guidance Practice Unit in the Faculty.  Besides doing counseling practicums in the unit, some practical courses are offered cooperatively by the guidance of responsible instructors working in Kindergarten, Primary, Secondary, and High Schools.

The Program of Guidance and Counseling was founded in the fall semester of 2008 for training counselors who will work at private and public schools, counseling and research centers, counseling and guidance services of universities, counseling and rehabilitation centers, administration of justice, counseling, and guidance services of ministry, general directorate of security, social services and child protection agencies and eventide homes. The program had started accepting students in the academic year of 2008-2009. Currently, 70 students are accepted into the program. The Programme of Guidance and Psychological Counseling. in the Faculty of Education, located in Anadolu University, Yunusemre Campus, has five professors,  five associate professors, two assistant professors, and two research assistant.

Besides offering a bachelor's degree in counseling, the Guidance and Counseling Department also offer master's and doctoral programs within the Institute of Educational Sciences. Moreover, the scholars in the program also take part in various national and international projects.
