By the end of the course, students will have a solid understanding of the origin of theatre, the various drama genres, and the development of theatre thought in Ancient Greece and Rome. They will gain knowledge about the structures of tragic and comic characters in ancient theatre. Students will comprehend the impact of the Renaissance period and Shakespeare on theatre and will be able to evaluate the development of theatrical arts from the Middle Ages to the present. Furthermore, they will be able to recognize the structural elements of theatre and analyze the historical influence of key movements and approaches towards acting and directing in theatre.
