Within the scope of the Maritime Labor Law course, students theoretically comprehend the scope of the Maritime Labor Law, its aspects that differ from general labor law, and the impact of international conventions (especially MLC 2006) on national legislation, while defining the legal statuses and mutual rights and obligations of key actors such as seafarers, shipowners, and masters. They acquire the skill to analyze processes such as the conclusion and types of maritime labor contracts, working, food, and accommodation conditions, as well as the termination of contracts and severance pay in the light of legislation. Furthermore, by evaluating occupational health and safety regulations on board and the legal liabilities arising from occupational accidents, they achieve the competence to generate legal solutions to concrete disputes stemming from maritime labor relations, such as wages and reinstatement, within the framework of judicial decisions and mediation processes. |
