Week - 2 The concept of history in ancient and medieval era-1: Plato and Aristotle on history
Week - 3 The concept of history in ancient and medieval era-2: St. Augustine as the first philosopher of history
Week - 4 Ibn Khaldun and Muqaddimah: the origins of a civilization theory. Shall history be based on examining societies and civilizations?
Week - 5 The conception of history from Renaissance to 19th century in general.
Week - 6 Vico as the father of philosophy of history as it is conceived today. The New Science and its implications on the later European culture.
Week - 7 19th century as ‘the century of history’ and of ‘German Idealism’. Herder, Thoughts On The Philosophy of History of Humanity; Kant, A General View of History Towards A Cosmopolitan Intent.
Week - 8 Major German Idealists- Fichte, The Fundamental Characteristics of Our Time; Schelling, The Concept of History, Is There A Philosophy of History?; Hegel, Philosophy of History of The World, Reason in History: An Introduction to Philosophy of History. The German School of History and the collapse of German Idealism.
