Work Placement Research and artistic production are integrated in the Painting programme studio. For each of the midterm and final assessments, students prepare at least three finished canvases (100×120 cm or larger), sketches/drafts, weekly research presentations and a research dossier. The proposal is two to three pages with a 15–25-image atlas; the final report is 1,000–1,500 words and the artist statement 250–300 words. Sources, digital tools and AI outputs are documented.
Aims of the Course The course aims to enable students to analyse the visual and conceptual spirit of works by international artists and reinterpret it through their own motifs and research questions; and to develop original paintings from spontaneous observational sketches and experiments in oil, acrylic and mixed media. Research-led, thesis-oriented projects examine an individual philosophy of expression, form–content, colour–content, technique–material, balance and visual impact. Weekly research presentations, written rationales, individual/group critiques and portfolios develop an artist-researcher approach.
