Aims of the Course The aim of this course is to ensure that prospective social studies teachers gain awareness of the fundamental concepts, theories, and processes of sociology and economics, which are of primary importance in understanding social life. Within the scope of the course, it is intended that students recognize basic sociological concepts such as the individual, society, culture, social change, social institutions, and social relations, as well as fundamental economic concepts such as production, consumption, distribution of resources, markets, inflation, unemployment, and sustainable development. Furthermore, it is aimed that students be able to interpret social and economic events from an interdisciplinary perspective, analyze current social and economic developments, and reflect this knowledge base onto the process of social studies instruction.
