#	Field Qualifications
1	The student, learns about the concept of maqam in Turkish music with its pitch, interval and seyir (melodic progression) characteristics
2	Learns about the history of Turkish music.
3	Masters the terminology of Turkish maqamic music as well as that of polyphonic European music.
4	With regard to performance practice, can perform the pieces s/he is playing with the ornamentations and techniques of the relevant period.
5	Acquires the skill to play her/his instrument with superior technique and agility.
6	Becomes competent in accompanying the singer, and performing in an ensemble.
7	With regard to the analysis of maqams, can make both auditory and notational analyses.
8	Masters the terminology of Turkish folk music.
9	Is equipped with competencies to design a study with field research techniques.
10	Learns to use the software applications about the notation of maqamic music.
11	Reaches the level of composing short monodic maqamic pieces.
12	Reaches the level of following historical and contemporary documents on the theory of Turkish music on national and international platforms.
13	Acquires comprehensive knowledge about Turkish religious music and forms in maqamic music.
14	Learns about the concept of usul (rhythmic mode) in Turkish music both theoretically and practically.
