  • 1. will be able to explain the basic concepts of media ethics. 1.1 He defines the concepts of ethics, media ethics, professional ethics and professional responsibility. 1.2. He explains the similarities and differences between these concepts by the use of examples.
  • 2. will be able to discuss self regulation process by the use of comparative examples on media 2.1. He describes the development process and the current practices of ethical codes by the use of examples drawn from the world and Turkish media. 2.2. He describes the development process and the current practices of press councils by the use of examples drawn from the world and Turkish media. 2.3. He describes the development process and the current practices of ombudsman by the use of examples drawn from the world and Turkish media. 2.4. He compares the relationships among different systems of self regulation.
  • 3. will be able to analyse press ethics in the framework of socio-cultural, legal, political, economic and technological factors on media. 3.1. He explains the importance of external factors in the moral processing of media. 3.2. He scrutinizes the role of socio-cultural, legal, political, economic and technologial factors in the resolution of the problems relating to media ethics.

  • 5. will be able to write news text by considering ethical codes. 5.1. He writes news in accordance with the principles of news writing. 5.2. He criticizes the news, which have been written in accordance with news writing principles,from an ethical perpective. 5.3. He presents the news he has already written to class.
  • 6. will be able to evaluate press ethics within a comprehensive approch. 6.1. He describes the relationships among society, journalist and state from an ethical point of view. 6.2. He defines the identity of "responsible journalist". 6.3. He constructs news content through the criteria of professional responsibility.
