The Ph.D. programme in Private Law aims to ensure that candidates gain advanced knowledge in the field. Candidates take courses for four semesters, focusing on contemporary and controversial issues in private law. Candidates evaluate and discuss existing concepts and institutions related with private law in the light of recent developments. Candidates are encouraged to develop a critical approach to existing concepts and institutions of private law, to identify and define newly introduced ideas by following recent developments in the field, and to defend their original ideas resulting from their studies. After all the courses are taken, candidates choose a subject from one of the sub-branches of private law and are required to write an original dissertation.
