  • Profile of the Programme

The overall objective of the program is to train qualified technicians who can contribute to the economy of the country in terms of agricultural production, can work successfully in agricultural and agriculture-based institutions, and can implement advanced agricultural techniques.

The top three graduates of agricultural high schools, the top graduates of technical high schools and students enrolled in an on-campus program in sciences may get enrolled in the program without taking the nationwide university entrance exam. Other high school graduates can get enrolled after taking the YGS exam and based on their YGS 2 score.

Students that gain the knowledge, competence and skills specified in Higher Education Qualifications Framework in Turkey and qualifications of the Associate Degree Program in Agriculture graduate as specialists in agriculture. Although there is no specific professional legislation concerning agricultural technicians, the Law no. 3795 enacted after being published in Official Gazette no. 21226 of May 12, 1992 stipulates that the graduates of two-year higher technical education take the title of technicians and may be employed as agricultural technicians in all agricultural works that require technical staff. For example, in agricultural enterprises dealing with cultivation of field crops, horticultural crops and greenhouse production systems agricultural technicians can help agricultural engineers.

The title of agricultural technician represents a significant professional qualification in the preparation of agricultural systems, in putting agricultural techniques into practice, in maintenance, installation and use of farm equipment, in the preparation of agricultural lands for processing, care and planting, in animal husbandry and maintenance and usage of milking facilities, in maintenance and related technical applications of born cleaning, in the preparation of techniques and technologies used in harvesting and post-harvesting procedures and in the conduct of agricultural chemical applications. Agricultural technicians are technical support staff that can help agricultural engineers.

Graduates can transfer to the undergraduate programs in agriculture, forest, landscape, environment, fisheries, rural development and life sciences. They can transfer to universities' vocational training schools dealing with agriculture, leather goods, tobacco expertise, and fishing technology.
