HISTORY: The name of our department, which was established in 1982 with the name of "Department of Printing and Publishing" and admitted students with a special talent exam for a long time, was changed to the Department of Press and Broadcasting in the 2001-2002 academic year, and our department started to accept students with a central exam. In June 2022, the name of our department was changed to "Journalism Department".
EDUCATION: Under the umbrella of our department, Journalism, Radio and Television Journalism, Press Ethics and Law, Press Theories, and Press Management and Economy, Internet Broadcasting, Broadcasting Design and Press Photography are taught under the branch of Journalism.

The main goal of the department is to train competent students in the field of digital journalism on the axis of communication, media and journalism information.

In the first two years of our education program, our students receive basic and theoretical information on different branches of science in addition to courses on general knowledge. In the last two years, our students, who have taken more applied courses, bring together the knowledge they have gained in four years within the scope of web publishing. For example, they can bring together the photographs they took in photography classes, the news they wrote in the courses on journalism practices, the newspapers and magazines they designed, and the programs they prepared using camera and editing systems in the courses on radio and television journalism.
In the third year, our students publish the newspaper called "Genç Anadolu"(Young Anadolu), which is the newspaper of our department; and in the last year, the magazine called "Genç Haber" (Young News) is published within the scope of the relevant courses. All of our students who are at the graduation stage can create their own personal websites and manage their social media accounts within the scope of the courses in our department.
OUR GRADUATES: Our graduates, who have knowledge and experience in the fields of newspapers, magazines, internet and social media, can generally take part in all of these fields on the axis of media and journalism.

Considering the positions in the sector, our students can have jobs in the fields of journalism, radio and television journalism, photography, press management and economy, broadcast design and internet publishing, which can be listed within the framework of the department's knowledge and application-based branches and courses.

Among our graduates, there are reporters, photojournalists, editors, news editors, news directors, editors in chief; page designers, visual directors; web designers, web publishers, bloggers, social media professionals; news camerapersons, news presenters, radio and television news programmers, documentary producers and directors.

Apart from the ones mentioned above, our graduates can have the opportunity to specialize in different fields by taking elective courses, minoring or double majoring in Cinema and Television, Public Relations and Advertising, and Communication Management and Design departments of our faculty, which will give them a chance to combine the education they received from our department with a second field and work in many different fields. It should also be mentioned that within the framework of credit system, students of Anadolu University can take courses from other faculties and have the opportunity to improve their knowledge in different fields.
