  • At the end of this course, mathematics teachers and mathematics educators will 1) have theoretical knowledge about the concept of task and activity, their types, characteristics, and levels, 2) will examine the researches about the implementation of tasks in the classroom, 3) will be able to design and implement tasks within the framework of task design and implementation principles.
  • They will be able to explain the concept of task and activity.
  • They will learn about the theoretical and philosophical foundations and historical development of tasks.
  • They will learn the design principles of mathematical tasks.
  • They will analyze the cognitive demand mathematical tasks, set up and implementation phases, and factors that affect the cognitive demand in implementation.
  • They will discuss the roles of teachers and students in the implementation of the tasks.
  • They will notice students' strategies in task-based teaching.
  • They will discuss mathematical literacy, mathematical modeling, proof, and interdisciplinary tasks within the scope of task-based learning.
